Nakusp Summer Events

It is so peaceful and quiet at Serenity Views that it is hard to leave sometimes.  However, a trip into the Village of Nakusp is just a 5 minute drive away, and is worth the effort.  Below are some of the activities happening this summer.

Vendor at Nakusp Farmers' MarketFarmers’ Market – Each Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., there is a gathering of artists, bakers, jam makers, farmers and jewellery makers who set up their tables and spread out their wares.  As well as being able to buy fresh fruits and veggies, there are many unique items on display.  Be sure to visit the Farmers’ Market if you are in Nakusp on a Saturday morning!

Music in the Park at NakuspMusic in the Park – On Wednesday evenings, there is live music at the gazebo in the park across from the public beach in town.  This is a free event running from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.  Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and enjoy the music in a beautiful location!

Kuskanax Creek Foot Bridge Grand Opening CelebrationGrand Opening of the Kuskanax Creek Foot Bridge – On Saturday, August 17th, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., there will be a celebration at the Nakusp Hot Springs.  The new bridge across the Kuskanax is finally finished and open to visitors!!  The grand opening includes two bands playing in various locations, as well as food vendors and a beer tent.  There will be free shuttle buses running during this time from the Nakusp Arena, as parking will be at a minimum.

If you are unable to attend the grand opening events, be sure to visit the bridge when you come to Nakusp.  It is just a short walk from the Nakusp Hot Springs parking lot, and leads to a trail going to the source of the hot springs.

These are just a few of the summer activities in Nakusp that we hope our guests will take advantage of!

Summer activities are in full swing!

Swimming in Arrow Lake at Serenity ViewsSummer definitely has arrived in Nakusp!   Temperatures have been warm which make the lake very inviting for cooling off!  Swimming, canoeing, or kayaking are all great to do on these hot days!

As well as lake activities, there are many opportunities in and around Nakusp for viewing great art and speaking to the artists who live here.

During the summer there are several art galleries open to the public, but this weekend there are special events planned.

The Columbia Basin Culture Tour is taking place on August 13 and 14, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.  This is an opportunity to visit artists at many galleries, museums and studios throughout the Columbia Basin, including Serenity Views.   This Cultural Tour is free to the public.

Ceramic plaque, created at Serenity ViewsBrian Deobald, host at Serenity Views, will be opening his studio to the public and giving demonstrations on using a potter’s wheel and using various sculpture techniques.  As well, our daughter, Shannon Deobald, will explain the bronze process, as well as showing several new pieces of her artwork.  Barbara Maye also has artwork on display in our gallery.

If you are in the vicinity of Serenity Views, please stop by for a visit and a look at the artwork!
